Inspiration can come from all places and Cupidiculous by Panop Koonwat proves it. This is a short animation about how love/sex can destroy the planet. Using abstract and familiar imagery to produce sexual innuendos, the animation brings us through a techno story of humanity, consumption, reproduction and more.
As bizarre as the short is, I love the animation style, pacing and rhythm of the piece. It gets across a message in 1 minute and a half, using game style music to maintain momentum. This is an interesting example of how story can be told without words – it seamlessly transitions through themes to conveyed a humorous (or cupidiculous) message. Love it.
