The obvious backdrop for a space based animation would be a starry black sky, but I like the idea of playing with colour and being a bit more playful. The objective of the animation is to present the message in a fun, memorable way, and so the use of characters and humour is fitting.

I came across some gorgeous illustrations by Apar Studio called Space Garden, which have a really mystical feel with soft, cosmic colours entwined in the darkness.

Slightly more on the bizarre side, are these illustrations by … which are made up with the combination of photography and illustration. This mixed media style lends itself well to after effects animation, which can be quick and easy to make.
