Double Exposure Photography

I came across this set of work by Andre De Freitas, who uses a double exposure technique on the camera to produce layered images. Typically this is done with film, but there are ways to achieve the same effect on a digital camera. I find myself having to look at the images for much longer than a normal photograph; there’s more going on in these than the hundreds of photographs we flick through everyday, and it’s really quite refreshing. I would love to apply these layers to film, encouraging the viewer to look a bit deeper into the work and search for the message behind it.
